Daren Bakst
Daren Bakst is the Founder and President of the Council on Law in Higher Education (CLHE). In this role, he oversees the work of the entire organization, from its extensive legal and policy analysis to its educational programs. Mr. Bakst has written and edited numerous books and articles on higher education law, including CLHE’s 1999 book Student Privacy on Campus. He has been widely quoted or published in news outlets such as USA Today, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and the Charlotte Observer.
Mr. Bakst has served in numerous policy and legal positions, including Policy Counsel for the National Legal Center for the Public Interest, which recently merged into one of the most prominent think tanks in the country, the American Enterprise Institute. Bakst received his M.B.A. from The George Washington University, J.D. from the University of Miami, and his LL.M. in Law and Government from American University. He is a licensed attorney in Florida and Pennsylvania.
